Haight was one of 25 local schools to receive an award from Step Up to the Plate for Education this month. Wells Fargo and KNBR team-up with SF Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford to award one hundred thousand dollars in grants to help youth education locally. Haight’s grant was for $3000 to purchase golf equipment for PE classes. From the award presentation at AT&T park: “Love Elementary School PE Teacher, Coach D, has been trying to raise and save money for several years in order to purchase the necessary equipment to teach golf during regular PE classes. Coach D believes that golf may be a way to engage and encourage more students to participate in sports. With these funds, she will be able to make that a reality and purchase a full class set of golf equipment to expand the list of sports available during PE classes.”
