Help Make A Difference at Love Elementary!
Love Elementary School’s Read-a-Thon will take place Monday, October 4 through Friday, October 15, 2021.
During this two-week event, students focus on reading while raising money for important PTA-sponsored programs.
Our goal is to raise $27,500 to fund vital programs for Love students and teachers in both remote and flexible program, including teacher classroom supplies, art supplies for the art docent program, garden docent program, virtual field trips, community events, and more. The PTA is budgeted to spend over $200 per student this year. We will need your help more than ever this year to reach our goal and help bring these great opportunities to our students.

Collecting Pledges
Your child will receive a Read-A-Thon envelope with pledge form in class by September 22nd. Please use the envelope to track sponsors and collect donations by cash or check payable to Love Elementary PTA.
You can also create an online donation page through GoalStarter.
GoalStarter Online Pledge System
Your child can help you create a personalized avatar and a fundraising pledge link to send to friends and family. Donors simply click the link and make a pledge in a few easy steps. Parents and kids can monitor progress toward their fundraising goals and easily send thank-you emails from the site. GoalStarter is private and secure, so no one can get to your child’s page unless you provide them with your unique link.

Collect Pledges
After your create you GoalStarter page, students share their reading goal with family, and friends, to ask for a donation to support their efforts! GoalStarter makes it easy to send email or post the link to your social media to start collecting pledges. Please be careful not to solicit donations from strangers.
Donations may also be made directly by visiting the Love Read-a-Thon GoalStarter homepage and clicking on the “Donate Now” button.
Don’t forget to include the student’s name to get credit towards their fundraising goal!
Donations are 100% tax deductible. The PTA is a 501c3 non-profit organization (FEIN: 94-6172294).
Remember to ask if your employer will match your donation! You can look up many employers in GoalStarter here.

Track Your Reading
Starting October 4, Read! Read! Read!
Each student (with adult help, if needed!) will track their time spent reading on an online Daily Reading Log. Please make a copy of the document before you use it! At the top of the form is a field to enter in your child’s total reading goal (minutes). As you enter reading time each day, their progress towards their goal will automatically calculate and total at the bottom.
Prefer to track your progress on paper? Use the reading log attached to your Read-A-Thon envelopes. Download and print extra copies here: Daily Reading Log (PDF).
After the Read-a-Thon is finished, use this form to submit a student’s total reading time. The final count entry form needs to be “Turned in” by October 29 to have your child’s work counted and be eligible for prizes. We will enter total reading time for each student into the GoalStarter page so that donations made per increment can be calculated.
Recommended Reading Goals
To make setting a daily reading goal easier, listed below are some sample times for each grade. Remember minutes reading alone or being read to count!

Community Story Time
The Love PTA will be hosting a Community Story Time at 7 PM for five nights during the Read-a-Thon (October 4-15). Find the calendar of events below.
Join us on Zoom and enjoy a read-along with some of your favorite Love Elementary community members and local celebrities. Attending these events will count towards your reading goals — just enter the time on your Daily Reading Log!

Prizes
Reading and fundraising are hard work! To thank our students, the following prizes will be awarded.
Prizes are cumulative. For example, if you reach the “Raise $150” Goal, you also receive the prizes associated with the “Raise $10” and “Raise $75” Goals.
Individual Prizes
- Meet your personal reading minutes goal = bookmark
- Raise $20 = Activity or sticker book and colored pencils
- Raise $75 = Tucker’s Ice Cream Jr. Scoop
- Raise $150 = Pop It or Pop Its Spinner
- Raise $250 = Love Elementary Read-a-Thon t-shirt
School Wide Prizes
- Student that raises the most money = lunch with the Principal
- Classroom that raises the most money = specIal party with teacher
Donations must be turned in by October 29 to count toward fundraising goal prizes. If you would like to opt out of your child receiving prizes, please contact fundraising@lovepta.org.
