Annual Volunteer Awards

Every year, the PTA recognizes a few special volunteer with two awards.

The Karen Kidde Award for Outstanding Dedication is for a volunteer who has gone above and beyond what would be expected or requested, and whose efforts have been sustained over an extended period. PTA started the award in 2011 in honor of Karen Kidde and her many years of dedication to Haight/Love. Her efforts included leading the Go Green Program, daily supervising trash sorting at lunch, playing a founding role in the Haight garden classroom, persistence that led to being the first school in the district to have a fresh salad bar, fundraising for the purchase of reusable dishes for the school. Over many years Karen’s work was often quiet but the impact of her “dedication to the betterment of Haight/Love Elementary School” was profound.
